Gareth Bale: I'd like to play abroad

Spurs winger Gareth Bale has revealed he would like to play abroad in the future.

The highly-rated 23-year-old Welshman signed a four-year contract with Tottenham this summer, ending speculation he would leave and move to a club with Champions League football.

But his latest revelation will surely alert Europe's giants, who are keen to snap up the flying midfielder after a series of impressive displays for Spurs in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Bale told the Guardian: "I'd never be scared of it (playing abroad). It's something I'd like to experience. It's in the future but if something did come up I would obviously look at it with interest."

Bale also revealed he was not tempted to quit Spurs this summer, despite the upheaval of Harry Redknapp's departure and the appointment on Andre Villas-Boas.

"The manager situation wasn't really my worry. It was more a case of whether the club wanted to go forward and be ambitious," he added

" I spoke to the chairman (Daniel Levy) and he told me about his plans and what he wanted to bring to Tottenham. It was exciting. We're going in the right direction. We've made some great signings. We've got a new training ground, we're planning a new stadium. It's all looking bright."
