Frank Lampard misses return to West Ham but John Terry’s now fit for action

Influential: Frank Lampard will miss the game, but John Terry is fit to face the Hammers

Frank Lampard is out of Chelsea's game against his former club West Ham but captain John Terry will play tomorrow.

Lampard was initially tipped to make a quick return after undergoing a hernia operation last week.

But manager Carlo Ancelotti said today: "Lampard needs to have more time to rest. He trained with us this week and recovered very well but needs more time. Maybe he will be involved against FC Zilina in the Champions League next Wednesday."

Terry is back after two weeks out with a hamstring injury, which forced him to miss England's Euro 2012 qualifiers.

Lampard also sat out England's back-to-back victories over Bulgaria and Switzerland sparking suggestions in some circles that both players should be left out of the side to face Montenegro next month. Ancelotti said: "I think Lampard and Terry deserve to play in the national team. I think next time they will be ready to play for England."

Either new signing Ramires or Yossi Benayoun will replace Lampard in midfield.
