Eric Dier wants to continue scoring goals for England at Euro 2016 after the Tottenham midfielder netted a superb free-kick in the nation's draw with Russia on Saturday.

The 22-year-old broke the deadlock in England's opening game at the European Championships on Saturday after firing in a fine free kick in the 73rd minute, which looked to hand Roy Hodgson's side all three points, although Russia equalised in added time.

And the Spurs midfielder has admitted he hopes he continues scoring important goals for England in France, after doing the same when he netted the winner in the Three Lions' 3-2 comeback win over World Champions Germany in March.

England vs Russia: Player Ratings

1/12

"I think it’s really important to chip in with goals. I think that makes you more complete," Dier said.

"That’s what a manager will look at — players that can do their job and then add something in some other different way. Hopefully, I do that.

"I’ve worked a lot on that free-kick for many years, not just this week. I’ve been practising a lot in the time we’ve been away and it was something that we’ve worked on so I am happy it came off.

"I think Wazza (Rooney) had the first free-kick. He’s the boss, he had the first one. I am thankful that he had the confidence in me to let me take the second one and hopefully I repaid that.

"I scored a couple for the Sporting B team, but obviously Christian [Eriksen] is pretty good at them at our place, so no complaint there."
