Erik Lamela and Mousa Dembele returned to Tottenham training today as they step up their attempts to reach full fitness in time for the new season.
The duo suffered injury problems throughout last season - particularly Lamela - and joined the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Vincent Janssen and Jan Vertonghen for fitness tests at Hotspur Way.
Argentine forward Lamela has not played since October after suffering a hip injury. The 25-year-old suffered multiple setbacks throughout the season and underwent surgery on both his left and right side.
Though Dembele's injury problems were less severe he missed Spurs' post-season trip to Hong Kong to undergo surgery on his foot and spent much of the year playing through the pain barrier, starting only one of Tottenham's final five games of the season.
Dembele has been rehabilitating throughout the summer and will hope to return to action imminently though after eight months out Lamela is likely to be treated carefully by Mauricio Pochettino.
Notably while Janssen, Dembele, Alderweireld and Vertonghen were all pictured being put through their paces by Spurs' staff there was no sign of Lamela.
Tottenham players are due to travel to the United States shortly as their pre-season preparations encompass International Champions Cup fixtures against Paris St Germain, Roma and Manchester City before a Wembley curtain-raiser against Juventus.
