England squad: Jarrod Bowen rewarded for fine form with Fikayo Tomori called-up and Emile Smith Rowe dropped

Jarrod Bowen has been rewarded for a superb season for West Ham with a first senior England call-up, while Leicester full-back James Justin has also been included in the squad for the first time.

AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori has also returned to the 27-man group for the Nations League matches against Hungary, Italy and Germany next month.

But Jordan Henderson, who is preparing for the Champions League final with Liverpool, and Aston Villa's Tyrone Mings have been left out, while Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith-Rowe is also conspicuous by his absence.

Bowen has been directly involved in 24 top-flight goals this season, scoring for the 11th and 12th time in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City which took the title race to the final day.

There was no recall for Leicester's James Maddison, despite the playmaker finishing the campaign with 17 goals and 11 assists in all competitions, and Tottenham centre-back Eric Dier was also overlooked.

Experienced full-backs Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier return to the squad despite fitness concerns, with the latter expected to compete with Justin to play left-back.

The 24-year-old Foxes defender, who can play on either side, has made 19 appearances since returning from a cruciate ligament injury in January.

Manchester United pair Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho miss out again, while left-backs Luke Shaw of United and Chelsea's Ben Chilwell are still sidelined through injury.

Centre-back Tomori is back in the squad for the first time since October 2019, fresh from winning the Serie A title with AC Milan at the weekend, with Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi, Arsenal's Ben White and Connor Coady of Wolves keeping their places ahead of Dier.

Leeds' Kalvin Phillips returns to the squad after missing the March games through injury.

England face Hungary in Budapest on June 4 and Germany in Munich three days later. They then host Italy in a rematch of the Euro 2020 final behind closed doors in Wolverhampton on June 11, before the return fixture against Hungary, also at Molineux, on June 14.
