Didier Drogba has told his team-mates Chelsea must make visiting sides scared to play at Stamford Bridge again if they are to win the Premier League title back this season.
It took an injury-time winner from Drogba to finally see off Hull City, who took the lead.
Chelsea have struggled at home since Liverpool ended their record unbeaten run of 86 League games last October.
They dropped 18 points at Stamford Bridge last term which is in stark contrast to the record set when the Blues last won the championship in 2006 of 18 wins and just one draw in 19 matches.
Drogba believes most teams used to feel they were beaten before the games even started at the Bridge. The striker, who scored both goals in a 2-1 win, said: "That was important for us and hopefully we will go back to this.
"We know that to win the League you need to win all the home games and try to make some good results away, and especially to beat teams like Hull.
"It's something we didn't do last year and it's how you lose the League. I don't think you lose the League against Manchester United or Liverpool, you lose it because you're not consistent and drop points. This season we need to win.
"Conceding a goal and going behind against Hull was not best way to start, but we can improve. I hope we will improve and be strong at home."
