Davinson Sanchez revealed his delight getting the chance to work with Mauricio Pochettino after agreeing to join Tottenham.

Spurs confirmed on Friday afternoon that Sanchez, 21, had signed a six-year contract with the club, and will complete his £40million transfer from Ajax subject to completing a medical and obtaining a work permit.

The Colombia international told Spurs' website: "I would like to thank the coach, management, players and fans of Ajax.

"It is a great move for me to come here to develop my career.

“I am very excited to be signing for such a famous club as Tottenham Hotspur.

"I am looking forward to working with Mauricio Pochettino and the players and meeting everyone there."

Former Spurs boss Martin Jol praised the defender earlier this week, saying: "He is cynical, he is unbelievably quick.

"He settled quickly as a young lad who came into the country [from Colombian club Atletico Nacional]. He was there one year and he was a personality.

"For a young player, he was mentally strong. That’s not a normal thing because he was very young. But to be mentally good for the Premier League, you have to learn your trade."
