Cup headache for Adel Taarabt

Adel Taarabt is torn over whether to miss the Africa Cup of Nations next month following a request from Harry Redknapp.

Queens Park Rangers are eight points adrift of safety at the bottom of the Premier League after failing to win any of their opening 16 games.

Taarabt (above) will be away for up to a month if Morocco reach the final on February 10, missing key games as QPR fight to stay up.

But the midfielder believes ignoring his country could have dire consequences and is likely to ignore his manager’s plea.

He said: “It’s a difficult decision because Harry Redknapp asked if I could stay. I would love to but it’s my country so if I say ‘No’, everybody at home will think I don’t want to play so I think I will go.

“I go to Morocco every summer. If they don’t do well, the fans will have a go at me and I don’t want that to happen.”
