Crystal Palace are weighing up a move to sign 35-year-old Diego Cavalieri on a free transfer to solve the goalkeeper crisis at Selhurst Park.

Roy Hodgson is desperate to bring in back-up for Wayne Hennessey as Julian Speroni faces two months out with a knee injury.

Palace have an agreement to sign Vicente Guaita from Getafe in the summer but Hodgson is concerned about the lack of options for the relegation run-in.

Cavalieri is a free agent after leaving Fluminense and the Brazilian goalkeeper could join on a short‑term agreement until the end of the season.

Cavalieri, who has three caps for Brazil, spent two years at Liverpool between 2008-2010 and played under Hodgson during his time at Anfield.

Palace can sign a free agent outside the transfer window and have space left in their 25-man Premier League squad to register a new player.
