Ben Watson believes he can replicate his FA Cup success with Wigan as Watford prepare to face Crystal Palace this weekend.

The 30-year-old midfielder returns to Wembley for this first time since his header in the last minute secured the FA Cup, as Wigan defeated Manchester City in a shock result.

“That goal in 2013 will be in the history books forever and being in an FA Cup Final is what dreams are made of,” Watson told The Mirror.

“I had broken my leg earlier in the season and I had to work really hard to get back. It was sort of written in the stars.”

Watford were promoted from the Championship last season and began their Premier League campaign as one of the favourites to be relegated

Yet Watford surpassed the 40-point safety barrier, as Watson scored the winner against West Brom last week. Watson said that he was delighted with his clubs achievement.

He added: “It’s been an incredible season already, but now it could be a special season.”
