Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Stuttgart midfielder Naouirou Ahamada for £10.5million.

The 20-year-old Frenchman has agreed a switch to Selhurst Park and is due in London on Monday to undergo a medical and finalise his move.

Midfield has been a priority area for Palace manager Patrick Vieira and Ahamada has impressed with his performances in the Bundesliga.

Ahamada has made 18 appearances for Stuttgart this season and will provide energy to a Palace midfield that has lacked a spark since losing Conor Gallagher.

Palace have explored a move to bring back Gallagher from Chelsea this month following his successful loan spell at Selhurst Park last season, but a deal looks unlikely.

Ahamada started his career in the French lower leagues before moving to Juventus, where he spent three years in their academy before joining Stuttgart.

He is set to become the first signing at Palace this month and Vieira is also targeting a new right-back before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
