Crystal Palace have wished a speedy recovery to those injured in Wednesday's Croydon tram crash after a supporter was named as the first victim killed in the tragedy.

Palace fan Dane Chinnery was one of seven who lost their lives, while a further 50 people were injured when the two-car tram derailed as it travelled around a tight bend near Sandilands station in Croydon.

Club chairman Steve Parish and first-team manager Alan Pardew were among those to offer condolences to the families of those killed, while the club reaffirmed its commitment to the community in the wake of the incident.

A statement on Palace's website read: "Everyone at Crystal Palace Football Club was shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic tram accident on Wednesday morning.

"The chairman, manager, players and staff would like to offer their sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.

"Whilst information is still being clarified, we understand that at least one of the victims, 19 year-old Dane Chinnery, was a Palace fan.

"Our prayers are with his family and with all the friends and relatives of those victims that have been affected.

"The club wishes a full and speedy recovery to the many people who suffered injuries.

Jake Anderson wrote: "Retweet/like this post, do whatever you can to spread this matter around so we can try arrange a minutes applause in the 19th minute of Crystal Palace's next home game vs Man City on 19th November."
