Mamadou Sakho has completed his return to Crystal Palace from Liverpool in a £26million deal.

Sakho has signed a five-year deal with the Eagles.

The France international defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Selhurst Park, becoming a beloved figure among supporters thanks to a fine string of performances that inspired Palace to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Though Sakho had been frozen out of the Liverpool set up by manager Jurgen Klopp the Reds still demanded a hefty fee from Palace, which saw the transfer saga drag into the final hours of the window.

Palace also considered a move for Manchester City centre-back Eliaquim Mangala but Sakho had been both the club and the fan’s first-choice signing.
