Christian Pulisic insists ‘nothing has changed’ on Chelsea future despite Raheem Sterling signing

Christian Pulisic has insisted Raheem Sterling’s arrival at Chelsea will not have an impact on his own future.

The American international has struggled to establish himself as a regular since his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, starting only 13 Premier League games last season.

In May, the 23-year-old’s father appeared to hit out at the forward’s lack of gametime, tweeting: “The sad thing is he loves this club, teammates, and London.… puts his heart and soul into being a pro.”

Sterling’s signing will only increase the competition for places in Thomas Tuchel’s starting line-up and the club are chasing further attacking additions.

Top target Raphinha has joined Barcelona from Leeds United, with Chelsea turning attentions to Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.

The great star of the USMNT ahead of the 2022 World Cup, Pulisic’s chances of imposing himself on first-team proceedings are not likely to get any easier.

Still, speaking while on tour in the US, the former Dortmund star told ESPN: “‘We all thrive competing with each other in training and getting to play with each other is just another great addition to the team.

‘”It doesn’t change a whole lot [for me], I’m still going to have to play hard and earn my position, just like I did before, nothing crazy has changed.

“This is Chelsea, this is what you signed up for, this is the kind of club it is with the calibre of players that we have.”
