Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has advised Liverpool's rivals to forget "technical and tactical nonsense" and watch how hard Jurgen Klopp's side worked to beat the Blades at Anfield on Thursday night.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane saw Liverpool ease to a 2-0 victory in a game which could have been much more difficult for the Premier League leaders given the Blades' impressive start to the season.

The result sends Liverpool 13 points clear of second-placed Leicester and, with another game in hand, it seems increasingly unlikely that Klopp's side will be stopped from winning the club's first League title in 30 years.

Liverpool have now won 18 of their 19 League matches this season, and broke their own club record for most passes (874) in a single Premier League since Opta records began in 2003.

Liverpool were ruthless against Wilder's men despite a draining festive fixture schedule which saw Klopp have to split his squad for two games in two days in the Carabao Cup and Fifa Club World Cup - and the Blades manager had nothing but respect for the League leaders.

"[That was] very unlike us," he told BT Sport after the game. "Look at both parts of game, we didn't lay a glove on them.

"We didn't do anything that has got us into this position. They were outstanding but didn't have to get out second or third gear.

"People talk about academy coaches and all this nonsense about technical and tactical stuff. At home we laid a glove on them and made it difficult for them.

"They won every first ball, every second ball, ran forward and ran back and they did that better than us.

"All this nonsense that comes out about coaching, have a peek at Liverpool tonight.

"They played in second and third gear and still had the humility and desire to do that as world champions and European champions and well on their way to being Premier League champions."

Wilder added: "We need to dust ourselves off. I wish Jurgen all best.

"I love everything about them. The physical and mental part of it is amazing."
