Gareth Bale scored a hat-trick to ensure Ryan Giggs' first game as Wales manager ended in victory with a comprehensive 6-0 win over China.

Giggs selected Bale to start in Thursday's China Cup clash in Nanning, and the Real Madrid forward repaid his boss by putting the Dragons a goal ahead within two minutes.

Bale put Wales two up after just 21 minutes as China were unable to deal with the visitors' high press, and the Dragons went into the break four goals to the good as Sam Vokes and Harry Wilson struck at the Guangxi Stadium.

As bad as China's defence was, Wales were clinical as Burnley striker Vokes added his second of the game 13 minutes into the second half.

Bale got the hat-trick his performance deserved just four minutes later with another low finish, and received warm praise from the crowd as he was replaced soon after by Giggs.

Bale's third of the game also saw him break Ian Rush's international goalscoring record for Wales with his 29th goal for the country.

It was the first hat-trick scored by a Wales player since Robert Earnshaw's treble against Scotland in 2004.

The victory sends Wales through to the final of the China Cup on Monday. They will take on either Uruguay or Czech Republic, who face off tomorrow.
