Chelsea's new 'Special One'? Antonio Conte delights Stamford Bridge fans

Chelsea fans were treated to a late 2-1 win over London rivals West Ham on Monday night, with Antonio Conte providing much of the drama in his first Premier League game in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian coach was a constant presence on the touchline, furiously appealing for decisions and wildly celebrating both Eden Hazard and Diego Costa's goals with his new fans.

Conte saved the best for last as he dived into the crowd following Costa's 89-minute winner, and is fast becoming a fan favourite in west London, according to John Dillon.

Chelsea supporters have taken to the former Azzurri coach quickly after seeing Jose Mourinho sacked last season following an abject title defence, with Conte starting to build a team that they - and Roman Abramovich - hope is capable of once again challenging for silverware.

Conte started life at Chelsea with three points, there are still problems for him to solve in terms of tactics and the transfer market.

Although Costa and Hazard both found the net, the Blues' unconvincing defensive display was of concern to Vaishali Bhardwaj, and Conte was fortunate that Slaven Bilic's visitors did not take advantage of James Collins' equaliser to seize the initiative and push on for a winner.

But while Conte may still be searching for another centre-back and an extra striker for the 2016/17 campaign, Simon Johnson suggests that N'Golo Kante - the £32million arrival from Leicester - could prove to be one of the coach's most important players after a dominant debut.
