Frank Lampard will have to weigh up the fatigue in his squad following the UEFA Super Cup Final defeat to Liverpool against a need to register a first Premier League win as Chelsea boss.

Leicester’s threat on the counter-attack makes N’Golo Kante’s inclusion preferable but he played all 120 minutes in Istanbul and must be assessed.

Christian Pulisic made a hugely promising full debut and given he was substituted after 76 minutes, he should be fresher than most, telling Standard Sport yesterday that he is itching for an opportunity to impress.

Lampard is likely to replace Kurt Zouma with Antonio Rudiger when the latter recovers from a meniscus injury.

Willian is close to return from a knee injury and could be selected along with Ross Barkley if Lampard chooses to freshen up his attacking options. He also has decisions to make regarding Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham, both of whom were dropped to the bench in midweek having started against Manchester United.

Predicted XI [4-3-3]: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, Emerson; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic; Pulisic, Giroud, Pedro
