Chelsea vs Watford team news: John Terry makes first league start since September

Antonio Conte has chosen to start Chelsea captain John Terry for the club's first match since they were crowned champions when they host Watford on Monday night.

The 36-year-old last started a Premier League game on September 11 when Chelsea drew 2-2 away to Swansea City.

But after the west Londoners clinched the title with a 1-0 victory over West Brom at the Hawthorns on Friday night, Conte has decided to give Terry game time as the defender prepares to leave his boyhood club at the end of the season.

The centre-back will depart Chelsea once his current contract expires this summer, which means the match against Watford and Chelsea's final game of the season at home to Sunderland on Sunday will be his last in a Blues shirt.

Meanwhile, N'Golo Kante also comes back into Conte's starting line-up after he missed the last two games with a thigh injury while Michy Batshuayi - who secured the Premier League title with his 82nd-minute winner against West Brom - also gets another chance to impress the Italian.

Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has been preferred to Thibaut Courtois, which could have implications for the Belgian's hopes of winning the Golden Glove.

Chelsea starting XI: Begovic, Zouma, Terry, Ake, Azpilicueta, Kante, Chalobah, Kenedy, Willian, Batshuayi, Hazard.

Chelsea subs: Eduardo, Aina, Alonso, Cahill, Fabregas, Pedro, Diego Costa.

Watford starting XI: Gomes; Mariappa, Prodl, Holebas; Amrabat, Cleverley, Behrami, Doucouré, Janmaat; Capoue; Niang.

Watford subs: Pantilimon, Mason, Eleftheriou, Zuniga, D Pereira, Okaka, Deeney.
