Chelsea vs Liverpool: Rock stars KISS snub Jurgen Klopp's 'heavy metal' football to back Antonio Conte's blues

Standard Sport16 September 2016

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp may have described his Borussia Dortmund tactics as 'heavy metal' football, but it seems that Antonio Conte's Chelsea are the only side for rock stars KISS.

Chelsea's preparations for their Friday night Premier League clash against Liverpool took a bizarre turn as the Blues received a good-luck message from the rock'n'roll giants.

Conte's side take on Klopp's men in what could be a bruising encounter at the Bridge, and Gene Simmons' band posted a video message on Twitter suggesting that the hosts could win the title after recovering from last season's woes.

Legendary bassist Gene Simmons begins by saying: "Hey everybody to our favourite football team in the world Chelsea FC!"

Singer Paul Stanley then backs the Blues for Premier League success: "We're wishing you all the best in your fight for the league title."

Simmons tells Chelsea fans that this is "your season, don't forget", before Stanley curiously adds: "And enjoy the guitar... rock on!"

Chelsea fans will be hoping KISS's message serves as a good-luck charm this term after last season's disastrous 10th-place finish in defence of their 2014/15 title.
