Chelsea v Manchester City team news: Fernando Torres and Ashley Cole start for the Blues as Pellegrini hands Sergio Aguero lone striker role

Jose Mourinho has rewarded striker Fernando Torres for his brace against Schalke by picking the Spaniard ahead of Samuel Eto'o for today's vital clash against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Torres, will lead the line for the Blues in a 4-2-3-1 with Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle and Oscar in support. Juan Mata and Samuel Eto'o, who has been Jose Mourinho's preferred choice in Premier League games will be on the bench.

Manchester City are still without captain Vincent Kompany who has a thigh problem but manager Manuel Pellegrini has the in form Sergio Aguero leading the line and Yaya Toure wearing the armband.

Toure, subjected to racist abuse at CSKA Moscow in midweek, was joined in the starting line-up by debutant Martin Demichelis, who began in central defence, left-back Gael Clichy and midfielder Samir Nasri, with Aleksandar Kolarov, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo making way.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 13 home Premier League games.
