Arsene Wenger took charge of Arsenal for the 1,000th time against Barclays Premier League leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Frenchman - chasing a first victory over Jose Mourinho's Chelsea at the 11th attempt - named an unchanged Arsenal side following last week's win over Tottenham, with Kim Kallstrom among the substitutes.

Mourinho, who last month called Wenger "a specialist in failure", referring to his eight-year trophy drought, made three changes following Tuesday's defeat of Galatasaray, two enforced due to suspensions of Ramires and Willian after their dismissals at Aston Villa.

David Luiz, Andre Schurrle and Nemanja Matic came in, with Frank Lampard the third player to miss out as he dropped to the bench.

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Matic, Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard, Eto'o. Subs: Lampard, Torres, Mikel, Salah, Ba, Schwarzer, Kalas.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud. Subs: Vermaelen, Flamini, Fabianski, Sanogo, Jenkinson, Kallstrom, Gnabry.
