Chelsea players are not sure who will take their first pre-season training session and whether current coach Antonio Conte is even preparing for it.

Sources close to several senior players have told Standard Sport that they are still in the dark over who will be in charge at Stamford Bridge next term and are growing increasingly concerned about the consquences.

Conte is expected to be replaced by Maurizio Sarri, who is believed to have agreed a deal in principal to manage Chelsea.

However, Chelsea have yet to agree compensation with Conte. The Italian is demanding the final year of his contract paid up in full, which is worth £9.5m.

Chelsea also have to prise Sarri away from Napoli as his deal, despite Carlo Ancelotti replacing him as coach, doesn’t expire until 2020, although it is believed a £4.5m figure has been finalised.

It is understood that all this uncertainty has left players questioning how the preparations for the new campaign is being organised.

Chelsea's transfer wishlist

Victor Moses told Standard Sport earlier this week that he had no idea how much holiday he is due after playing in the World Cup for Nigeria and wasn't sure who would tell him either.

The squad members not involved at the World Cup will report back to the club’s base at Cobham on July 9th.

Chelsea players have been aware of all the speculation surrounding Conte losing his job for several months, but are now wondering whether it will continue into pre-season as well.

It is understood that some are wondering if Conte has even been planning what he wants to do in the sessions should he still be in the job.

Chelsea maintain that they are relaxed about the situation and have maintained all along that the Italian, who has won the League and FA Cup over the past two years, has 12 months on his contract.

However, key players are prepared to leave the club if Conte remains at the helm and that is one of the factors why Chelsea have been looking at making a change.

And as reported last week, some are worried about the lack of signings too.
