Chelsea midfielder Charly Musonda has sealed an 18-month loan move to Celtic.

The 21-year-old has joined up with Brendan Rodgers' side until the end of the 2018-19 season as he seeks to develop his skills by playing regular first-team football away from Chelsea.

The Premier League champions are thought to rate Musonda highly, but are keen for him to get more playing time after he made just seven appearances in all competitions for Antonio Conte's side this season.

The Belgian, who is contracted to Chelsea until 2022, joined the west London outfit from Anderlecht in the summer of 2012 with his older brothers Tika and Lamisha.

After coming up through the ranks, he was sent out on loan to Real Betis in January 2016 - where he impressed - but returned a year later following the sacking of Gus Poyet.

He was subsequently included in Chelsea's squad for their pre-season tour of the Far East last summer by Conte, before going on to score one goal for the Blues, which came against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup, this term.
