Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed what he told his players at half-time after seeing Manchester City fly into a 3-0 lead.

Lampard has admitted to feeling the "heat" after Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne condemed the Blues to a fourth defeat in six.

The 3-1 loss at Stamford Bridge is the latest blow in an alarming drop in form for a team who were just one month ago sitting top of the table.

"I said to the players at half-time, I’ve sat there and had those days," Lampard told Sky Sports. "I sat there, had those days and lifted a trophy at the end of the year.

"I remember getting beat at Middlesbrough 2-0 or 3-0, [Mark] Viduka and Yakubu up front, and we were sat in the dressing room pretty demoralised.

"But we bounced back because we had a spirit in the dressing room, we had a quality of player."

Chelsea, now sitting in ninth, have a FA Cup third-round tie with Morcombe to navigate before heading to Fulham on January 15.
