Captain Katie Chapman is hopeful Chelsea Ladies will reach the semi‑finals of the Women’s Champions League for the first time tonight, even though their opponents have had a week’s rest.

Montpellier have not played since losing the first leg of the quarter‑final 2-0, while Chelsea drew 2-2 against Reading on Sunday to extend their lead at the top of Women’s Super League 1.

Ahead of the second leg at Kingsmeadow, midfielder Chapman said: “It’s been hard with only three days between games but you just do what you can to get ready for the next one.

“We’re mentally strong and we know we have to get through this important period for the club. We are in a really good place, looking positive and confident.”
