West Ham target Carlos Bacca is set to remain with AC Milan, ending the Italian club’s move for Chelsea’s Juan Cuadrado.

The Hammers bid £26million for the Colombia striker last month, but new Milan boss Vincenzo Montella has been working hard to persuade Bacca to stay and his words appear to have had an impact.

Bacca scored 20 goals in 42 appearances last season and it seems he has now decided to remain with Milan, having been convinced by Montella’s vision for the club. On Wednesday, he played in the first match of a triangular tournament against Spanish team Celta Vigo.

The knock-on effect of Bacca staying is that Milan will not have the money to pursue their interest in Cuadrado. Chelsea bought the winger for £26.1m and would only sell him if they could recoup that sum.
