Burnley boss Sean Dyche 'questions' refereeing decisions on Arsenal's late winner

Burnley manager Sean Dyche questioned whether Arsenal should have had the time to score the late goal that secured them a 1-0 victory at Turf Moor.

With almost the last kick of the game Laurent Koscielny converted in contentious fashion, the ball seemingly deflecting off the Arsenal captain’s arm on its way beyond Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

The hosts had perhaps had the best chances to win the match prior to Koscielny’s strike, both Sam Vokes and Michael Keane glowing close with headers as Burnley looked to counterpunch against an Arsenal side that dominated possession without clear cut chances.

It made it all the tougher for Dyche to accept the winner, which came with 92 minutes and five seconds on the clock. Fourth official Lee Mason had signalled there should be two minutes of added time played before the end of the match.

Dyche told Sky Sports: "You have to question the added time, the corner and whether it should have come in, the handball and question whether we should have dealt with it. It's a poor way to end a game. We are disappointed in that but encouraged by the performance.

"We were taking on one of the super power clubs. Obviously it's the ultimate frustration with the last 10 seconds or so. There's no point in trying to pass them off the park. We wanted to get the ball forward quickly and earn the right to score a goal.

"Defensively you have to be diligent about your work. The mood in the dressing room is not low, we know what the challenge is. It's more one of frustration because they have done enough to earn a point after keeping a good side quiet

"Our goalkeeper Tom Heaton has not had much do and almost saved the goal. We're the minnows of the division and not got the spending power so we are learning. There's a lot of positives to come out of this."
