Brentford's players have been offered counselling after the death of the club’s 28-year-old technical director Rob Rowan on Monday.

Training continued as normal this week but players were under no obligation to take part and they have had access to an external grief counsellor. The players were already scheduled to be off from tomorrow until Monday.

The Bees are in talks with Rowan’s family about a tribute to the Scot ahead of their next home game against Middlesbrough a week on Saturday.

Owner Matthew Benham wrote: “Truly devastated...Rob was fantastic at his job, and was a great man...Our thoughts are with his family. RIP Rob.”

Rowan had worked in various roles at Brentford since joining the club in 2014.
