Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger must do 'whatever it takes' to hold onto Alexis Sanchez - David Seaman

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman believes Arsene Wenger must do all he can to ensure Alexis Sanchez doesn't leave the club this summer.

The Chile international's future at the Emirates Stadium has been called into question this summer, with Sanchez finding himself linked to Manchester City and, more recently, to Paris Saint-Germain.

Indeed, it was reported that Sanchez was in Paris last week although Wenger insisted that was not the case before reiterating the Gunners' stance of not being in the market to sell their best player.

Yet Sanchez has just one year left on his current contract at Arsenal, and Seaman believes replacing a player with his talent will be difficult - even if the club could make up to £70million on selling him.

"[Arsene Wenger's] main problem is going to be holding on to Alexis Sanchez," Seaman told Goal. "I would do whatever it takes to hold on to him because he’s a quality player who you wouldn’t want to be leaving the club, especially to your rivals.

"Sanchez-type players are the ones Arsenal should be bringing in.

"To replace him, It’d be hard. What are they going to get for him? He’s got a year left on his contract, his price-tag, I’d guess, would be around £50-70 million – you can’t guarantee spending that money and getting a player as good as Sanchez.

"He’s a guy who is just brilliant all over the pitch."
