Former Chelsea manager Ruud Gullit has ruled Arsenal out of the title race, claiming their midfield isn't strong enough to maintain a push for league honours.

Gullit won the FA Cup as both a player and a manager at Stamford Bridge but never lifted the Premier League trophy with the Blues.

The 52-year-old admits Arsenal are doing 'surprisingly well' this year but doubts they have the power in midfield to catch Jose Mourinho's side before the end of the season.

"Chelsea have done really well [this season]. They bought some good players that improved their team from last year," Gullit said.

"Arsenal are surprisingly also doing well – but I don't think they are capable of winning a title or the Champions League with that team. I still think they need more power in midfield.

"But it is good to see that Arsenal are doing well, good to see that Manchester United are doing well and Chelsea and Manchester City – and we also need a good Liverpool because it is better for the quality of the teams in Britain."
