Arsenal's Jack Wilshere: We've got the winning spirit

Jack Wilshere believes Arsenal owe their fine start to the winning mentality developed when overhauling Tottenham last season.

The Gunners are top of the Premier League — prior to Liverpool’s trip to Swansea tonight — after a 3-1 victory at Sunderland courtesy of Olivier Giroud’s strike and a brace from Aaron Ramsey.

They have won their last nine away matches dating back to March’s 2-0 victory at Bayern Munich and Wilshere believes the resolve they showed at the Stadium of Light has its roots in the previous campaign.

He told Arsenal Player: “There was a mentality at the end of last season when we had to win games and get that fourth spot and we have carried that on into this season, especially away from home. We seem to play really well away from home and we can take that form into the home games.

“We all get on really well here — we have got a great set of lads. We have been together for four or five years, most of us. We are starting to build a real friendship and that is starting to show on the pitch.”
