Hamburg have confirmed the signing of England youth international Xavier Amaechi from Arsenal.

The 18-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Bundesliga 2 club, following the likes of Ademola Lookman and Jadon Sancho in swapping the Premier League for Germany.

Amaechi was reportedly the subject of interest from a host of top European sides, and turned down a contract extension with Arsenal.

He will wear the No17 shirt at the Volksparkstadion.

Born in Bath, Amaechi joined Arsenal from Fulham’s youth academy in 2013, and had been a highly-rated member of their Under-23 side, scoring four times in 14 games in last season’s Premier League 2.

He is yet to make a competitive senior appearance, though was part of the extended travelling party for last season’s Europa League Final defeat against Chelsea in Baku.

With Reiss Nelson returning from his loan spell in Germany with Hoffenheim, and the Gunners close to signing Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, Amaechi looked unlikely to make the step up into the first team this season at the Emirates.
