Arsenal player ratings vs Chelsea: Emile Smith Rowe shines again but Bukayo Saka struggles at right wing-back

Emile Smith Rowe scored the only goal as Arsenal stunned Chelsea by beating them 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Simon Collings ran the rule over Mikel Arteta’s players...

Bernd Leno 7

Made a good save from Mason Mount in the first half and had a solid game. There are doubts over his future, but on his day has proven his worth.

Rob Holding 8 | Star man

The centre-back just seems to love playing against Chelsea. Made a few vital blocks and his distribution was good too.

Pablo Mari 7

Was shaky early on and almost gifted a goal to Kai Havertz. Improved, though, and helped the side keep a clean sheet.

Gabriel 7

Probably the weakest of Arsenal’s back-three, but not by much. Passing out from the back was a little wayward.

Never started at right wing-back before and struggled to impact the game from there. Almost caught out in the first-half by Ben Chilwell too. Taken off with 25 minutes to go.

Thomas Partey 8

Much better from the Ghanaian and one of his better games for a while. Broke up play nicely and passing was better. Looks happier alongside Elneny as opposed to Dani Ceballos.

Mohamed Elneny 8

Made a vital block in the first half to deny Mount and never stopped running. Could be loose in possession, but off the ball he was decent.

Kieran Tierney 7

A decent game from the Scot, who looked good playing as a left wing-back. Arsenal look so much better with him in the team.

Martin Odegaard 6

Spent most of his night doing defensive work. Pressed well and kept the ball nicely too when he had it.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 6

Starved of service and had a quiet night. Kept his composure for the goal and teed up Smith Rowe to score.

Emile Smith Rowe 8

Grabbed himself a goal and was the best of Arsenal’s attacking players. Found pockets of space at times and pressed relentlessly too.

Substitutions

Hector Bellerin (Saka 65’) 6

A good cameo from the Spaniard, who looked dangerous going forward but he had to go off injured.

Alexandre Lacazette (Aubameyang 79’) N/A

Calum Chambers (Bellerin 87’) N/A

Subs not used: Ryan, Cedric, Ceballos, Willian, Pepe, Martinelli.
