Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed midfielder Aaron Ramsey has suffered a setback in his bid to return from injury.

Speaking after Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Southampton, Wenger confirmed the 23-year-old will be out for longer than initially expected, with some reports suggesting he could miss the whole of February.

"Unfortunately he had a setback in training," the Arsenal boss revealed.

"Hopefully he's not out too long but he won't be available for Sunday's game."

Meanwhile, the Frenchman admitted he was happy with a point at Southampton on Tuesday night, despite losing ground to the title chasers.

Wenger saw his side come from behind in the early stages of the second half and they looked on course to stretch their advantage at the top of the Premier League.

But Adam Lallana equalised to make sure the hosts took a point and ensure the Gunners lost ground to those immediately behind them in the title Premier League title race.

The Arsenal boss, however, took comfort from the tough nature of the title-chasers Wednesday fixtures.

"They have difficult games as well and we took at least a point,” he said.

"In the first half if you told me we would take a point I wouldn't have believed you. Considering the situation, we have to be content with it."
