Tomas Rosicky is set to provide Arsenal with a minor injury boost when he returns to gym work in the coming days.

The Czech Republic international has yet to feature this season having picked up an injury to his knee cartilage in June. Hut a specialist in Munich confirmed earlier this week that he will be ready to resume light training soon.

The 35-year-old is expected to be available for first-team action in early January and will provide a welcome boost to a midfield that is currently severely lacking in numbers.

Rosicky’s contract was extended at the end of last season, though he made only 24 appearances throughout the campaign and missed the FA Cup Final. This may well be his final season at the club, as Standard Sport reported earlier this week that he is set to depart the club along with Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini,

Both Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere are expected to join Rosicky in the side early in the New Year, by which time Wenger will hope the worst of his injury crisis has eased.

Currently the manager is without 10 first-team players; though Laurent Koscielny was rated at an 80 per cent chance to recover in time for Sunday’s North London Derby.

None of Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Arteta or David Ospina are expected back before the international break.
