Arsenal have a stronger squad than Premier League leaders Chelsea, insists Tony Pulis

Arsenal have a stronger squad than Premier League leaders Chelsea, according to West Brom boss Tony Pulis.

Antonio Conte's side currently boast a six-point lead at the top of the table courtesy of a 12-game winning streak stretching back to September.

The Gunners, meanwhile, are nine points adrift of their London rivals following a slender 1-0 victory over the Baggies on Boxing Day.

Pulis has faced both Arsenal and Chelsea in recent weeks and the 58-year-old is convinced it is the north Londoners who boast significantly more strength in numbers.

"Arsenal have got the stronger squad," Pulis said in the wake of his side's defeat at Emirates Stadium.

"If you look at the players who are not playing and not in the team and then you look at Chelsea I think Arsenal have definitely got the stronger squad.

"So they've probably got the staying power to see them through. But it will be interesting to see what Chelsea do. I think Chelsea will spend [in January].

"I don't think your man [Antonio Conte] will sit back with what he's got - he will invest," Pulis added.

Conte has rarely rotated his side during the first half of the season since settling on a preferred 3-4-3 formation, with some critics adamant fatigue could cost the Blues in the latter stages of the title race.

But the Italian coach is expected to be given an opportunity to add to his squad next month as significant funds are set to be made available following Oscar's financially lucrative move to Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG.
