The agent of Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has offered no guarantees his client will remain at the club beyond the end of the season.

Martial arrived at Old Trafford on September 1 2015 for a world-record fee for a teenager, £36million rising to up to £58m, and has largely been a success for United, scoring 36 goals and providing 27 assists in 131 appearances.

However he has not always enjoyed the smoothest relationship with United boss Jose Mourinho and has often been forced to settle for a substitute role, making only 16 starts in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal, whose manager Arsene Wenger was an admirer of the forward before he left Monaco, tried to acquire Martial as part of the deal that took Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United in January but the proposal was given short shrift by the Old Trafford hierarchy.

However Martial’s representative Philippe Lamboley would not confirm that the forward would still be a United player in a few months’ time.

He told Il Bianconero: “Will [Martial] stay in Manchester in the summer? At the moment, I cannot say anything else about it.”

“His goal is to win the FA Cup and to cement with Manchester United the second place in the Premier League.”
