Flintoff 'back with a bang' - Moores

12 April 2012

England coach Peter Moores insists that Andrew Flintoff can return to the kind of form which made him a star during the successful Ashes campaign in 2005.

Flintoff has made a triumphant return following ankle trouble in the first two one-day internationals against India - bowling at 92mph in the first match at the Rose Bowl and then claiming his first ODI five-wicket haul in the second game at Bristol.

"He's back with a bang and he has been fantastic around the dressing room. Fred's got his passion back to play the game," said Moores. "We've seen that in the last two performances - that's good for English cricket."

He added: "We've got to be sensible. The ankle seems to be standing up well at the moment. We've just a little concern about his knee.

"But he's the same as all players - you've got to look after them because they play a lot of cricket and we need make sure we don't overplay them."

England have called up Jon Lewis to their squad for the next two games against India following Flintoff's knee scare.
