Fitzgerald returns as Allen tries to get back to basics

Raoul Simons14 April 2012

Scott Fitzgerald returns to increase Brentford's defensive options for tomorrow's trip to Bournemouth.

The former Wimbledon centreback has not featured in the first team since September due to a thigh injury, but proved his fitness during a midweek reserve game against Fulham.

Manager Martin Allen admits his side's confidence has been dented by two successive defeats and is considering team changes.

He said: "The two games have been a tremendous jolt for all of us. This has given me much to think about ahead of a tough league game at Bournemouth.

"We did not become a bad team overnight and we must get back to the basics and principles that helped us into the play-off places."

Kevin O'Connor (foot) is doubtful and fellow defender Michael Dobson (hamstring) is unavailable.
