FA throw book at Keane

13 April 2012

Manchester United captain Roy Keane has been charged by the Football Association with bringing the game into disrepute following the release of his controversial autobiography.

The two FA charges follow Keane's apparent confession in the book that he deliberately embarked on a revenge tackle on Manchester City's Alf-Inge Haaland.

Both charges relate to the Haaland incident and Keane has 14 days in which to respond.

The midfield star could face a lengthy ban if found guilty of either of the two disrepute charges are upheld.

However, having undergone surgery on his hip yesterday, the Irishman may not be fit again by the time any possible suspension ends.
