Djokovic claims Miami title

12 April 2012

Novak Djokovic became the youngest ever male champion at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami on Sunday after defeating Guillermo Canas in straight sets.

The 19-year-old secured his first ATP Masters Series title at the hardcourt event with a 6-3 6-2 6-4 victory over the unseeded Canas, who grabbed the headlines after knocking out world number one Roger Federer in the fourth round on Tuesday.

Djokovic said: "Every time you win something or you are the youngest player or you make any record, it certainly feels great. It means your name is in the history of the sport. I am very proud of that."
