When Chelsea meet Galatasaray on Wednesday in the first knockout round of the Champions League, there will be a reunion between the London club and one of their best loved players.

Didier Drogba, who scored 157 goals 341 appearances for the Blues between 2004 and 2012, is nothing short of a Chelsea legend. Recently, however, he has been playing his football in Turkey for Galatasaray under Roberto Mancini following a short spell in China.

He left Chelsea when his contract expired in the summer of 2012 and is still a favourite in most corners of the club’s fan base. It will be Drogba’s first game against Chelsea on Wednesday since he left.

In the time between his first goal, a trademark header against Crystal Palace in 2004, and his heroics in the 2012 Champions League final against Bayern Munich, Didier Drogba was central to many of Chelsea’s successes in the modern era. Here, we count down some of his best moments.
