Lindsay Davenport left the All England club a year ago insisting: 'I'd be surprised if I came back'. However, having contemplated retirement, the 1999 champion is world No.1 again and admitted: 'I've had kind of a resurgence the last six or seven months.'

Now the 29-year-old American is keen to erase last year's semi-final defeat by Maria Sharapova, insisting: 'That was tough as Wimbledon is a tournament where I struggled for years then grew to love much more so than other Grand Slams. I still feel I can win it.'
