No decision over Steve Harmison, says Andrew Strauss

10 April 2012

England captain Andrew Strauss is insisting no decision has been made on Steve Harmison's future.

Responding to suggestions Durham fast bowler Harmison would not be in the touring party for the Test tour of South Africa later this year, Strauss said the selectors had yet to discuss the make-up of the squad.

Harmison, 30, was recalled for the final two Ashes Tests but was not given a new central contract.

"We haven't discussed the Test squad at all at this stage," said Strauss. "Harmison does offer something that other bowlers don't; he's definitely got a good chance of being on the tour."

England face Sri Lanka in Group B of the eight-team Champions Trophy on Friday and Strauss added: "We know the areas we need to improve upon after our defeat by Australia."
