Colly hails bowling attack

12 April 2012

Paul Collingwood claims England have the best bowling attack he has played with in his six years as a one-day international player.

Collingwood led England to their first major ODI series win on the sub-continent for 20 years, but he was quick to praise the efforts of Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann, James Anderson and Stuart Broad.

"I don't think I can remember an attack this good. The key thing is that it has been a collective thing," he said.

"When you bowl together in pairs and you're not letting the batsmen off, that's when pressure builds in one-day cricket.

"We speak about these things off the pitch and it's easy to talk about them, but to take them onto the pitch is a special thing.

"One of the areas that has surprised me more than anything is how quickly they have adapted their games.

"It hasn't swung, seamed or bounced around in Sri Lanka but they have hit the bat hard, varied pace and been very, very skilful - as a unit they have been fantastic."
