Clark: We'll laugh through Saha saga

Lee Clark said today that Louis Saha's Fulham team-mates have no doubts about his commitment and admitted that they have been taking the mickey out of him over his blocked move to Manchester United.

French striker Saha said last week that it was "disgusting" that he was being denied a dream move to Old Trafford and there were suggestions that talk of a £10million transfer to Old Trafford had led to a poor performance in the 2-1 defeat at Middlesbrough.

But his spirited, goalscoring performance in the 2-1 win against Everton on Saturday was hailed by Clark, who said: "There was no doubting Louis's commitment against Everton or Middlesbrough.

"His attitude has been brilliant and he is a cracking lad.

"There has been a bit of friction outside so once he is in the club we have been winding him up and I think that has helped him.

"I can see the situation from his side and the club's, but we just try to take the gloss off it and have a laugh.

"Whenever it has been raining we have said that to him that is what it is like in Manchester every day and sometimes I think he gets mixed up and calls me Roy Keane in training.

"I am not sure he understands my Geordie all the time but he seems to laugh anyway."

Manager Chris Coleman said that if Saha failed to perform he would drop him but that would not mean the striker was for sale.

He said: "He is not very happy but he can be as unhappy as he likes. As long as he keeps putting in performances like he did against Everton, I don't care."

Saha scored a first-half penalty and Steed Malbranque got the second before Kevin Kilbane's reply for Everton.

Meanwhile, the Football Association may look into an incident at Loftus Road on Saturday when a cigarette lighter was thrown at Fulham's Luis Boa Morte.

The Portugal winger was targeted by fans in the away end when he lined up to defend a free-kick, but was not hit.

He handed the lighter to referee Graham Poll, who said he had included the incident in his report to the Football Association.
