City release Reyna

12 April 2012

Manchester City have agreed to terminate the contract of former USA captain Claudio Reyna.

The 33-year-old midfielder has not played for the club since the defeat by Tottenham in December and he is now expected to return to his homeland.

Reyna joined City for £2.5million from Sunderland in 2003 and went on to make 77 league appearances, scoring four goals.

Reports have suggested Reyna was keen for a move home for family reasons and that he will sign a deal with Red Bull New York to play in Major League Soccer.
