Caborn is set to keep job

Sports Minister Richard Caborn is likely to keep his job in any Cabinet reshuffle if Labour wins today's election.

Standard Sport understands that Tony Blair views Caborn as a crucial part of London's bid for the 2012 Olympics because of the contacts he has built up in international sport.

Caborn refused to comment today. But it is clear that the former Sheffield United director has been enjoying the 2012 campaign.

The Prime Minister may also decide not to move Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell to a bigger department, as expected, before the International Olympic Committee vote in Singapore on 6 July.

Blair is believed to have already made plans to travel to the meeting to lobby IOC members but he will have to return before the vote to host a G8 meeting in Scotland.
