Broad out for England

12 April 2012

England all-rounder Stuart Broad has been ruled out of the second NatWest Series match against Australia at Lord's on Sunday through a neck strain.

Ashes hero Broad, 23, was injured diving in the field in the opening loss to the Australians at the Oval on Friday.

The problem has restricted mobility in Broad's right shoulder, although the England medical team are confident he will be available for Wednesday's day-night contest in Southampton.

Broad's absence should signal a recall for Yorkshire all-rounder Tim Bresnan.

The options in the England squad have been reduced by the current knee injury to opening batsman Joe Denly while the only other man in the party is another batsman, Middlesex's Eoin Morgan.
